Every year many people miss out on voting because they cannot get to a polling station on election day.
If you want to ensure you have your say in upcoming elections, all you need to do is complete the form and either post it to South Cambridgeshire Hall, Cambourne Business Park, Cambourne, Cambs, CB23 6EA or scan it and email it to elections@scambs.gov.uk.
Elections in this area are often decided by a handful of votes – your vote could make all the difference.
Postal Votes:
If you opt for a postal vote, your ballot will be sent to you by South Cambridgeshire District Council two weeks before the election, allowing you to vote whenever it is convenient for you while ensuring it is counted come election day.
If you like going to vote at the polling station, don’t let that put you off applying - you can still take your ballot paper to the polling station on polling day, rather than sending it back by post if you prefer.
By applying for a permanent postal vote, you are guaranteeing that if something does come up that stops you getting to the polling station, you won’t lose your vote.
Proxy Votes:
If you opt for a proxy vote, your chosen proxy will be sent a proxy poll card, telling them when and where they can vote on your behalf.
On polling day, if you are able and wish to go to the polling station you can, as long as you proxy has not already gone to the polling station and voted on your behalf.
